Around the time I was graduating from law school in 2018, Adam Kerpelman, Konstantin Brazhnik, and I co-founded a legaltech startup called Juris. One of our missions was to use technology to make consumer legal services more affordable.
One service that we built was for people who had moved out of a place and whose landlords were unfairly holding onto their security deposit. The user answered some questions and the program put together a demand letter, citing the relevant state laws, and sent it to their landlord. Users recovered tens of thousands of dollars.
I dropped the logic from one of these programs into a custom GPT. You can try it out below but remember that I’m not your lawyer and neither is this program.
